He is the Reason for the Season

Celebrating Christmas is not just celebrating the season but also the reason.

For kids, Christmas is their most awaited season of the year. It’s about Santa Clause, gifts under the tree, money from parents, endless flow of candies, beautiful lights in the windows, Christmas carol, and new clothes.

For the working professionals, it’s a bittersweet season, it’s the time they will receive their Christmas bonus and 13 month pay yet will end up spending it for their families and inaanak to fulfill their duties. It’s the wonderful season for reunion yet working during the holiday season left them without a choice.

For businessmen, it’s the holiday shopping season, sales increase dramatically and shoppers are expected to splash out. Customers are everywhere, looking for good deals and bargains.

For old people, it’s the season to be reunited with family and friends, reminiscing the good old days, spending time with their loved ones.

But amidst the Christmas rush, reunions, get together, delicious food, countless gifts and the joy of this season what is really the reason for the season?

A child is born

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

The Light for Men

The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.  He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.  He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:9-13)

The Savior of the World

She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2).

God is with Us

Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name “Emmanuel”, which means, God with us (Matthew 1:21).

Gift from God

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).

The Perfect Example of Humility

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death– even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:5-11).

Merry Christmas!

Let us not forget the reason for this season!
