So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” -Exodus 3:10

Who could really understand the ways of God? Why would He call an ordinary, fearful and stuttering man to accomplished a great task that involves the lives of thousands of people. A man who went to a foreign land to escape the sin he had committed. But he was called by God. God is not a man that He should lie or change His mind. It’s final and irrevocable. Moses was chosen by God. He may be totally disqualified to perform the task God commanded him in the standard of human eyes. He also recognized that he is not fitted for the task. He gave countless reasons, quick and witty retorts to excused himself. But God with no question ask always qualifies the called. When God called you:

1. He is giving you a chance to live an extraordinary and remarkable life.

2. He is giving you a power to make a difference on the lives of thousands of people.

3. He is giving you a privildge to be part of history that people will remember from generation to generations.

Moses from just tending the flocks was promoted to be a Deliverer, a person who will lead God’s people out from slavery. He couldnt believe the task that was given to him. He couldnt contain the promotion that falls on his lap. He started to grumble and utter doubtful questions to prove his point that its not totally for him. What are the common responds when God called you to accomplished a great task:

1. Who am I?
But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11)

In situations like this, self doubt is formed. You began to question your skills, strength and identity. You see yourself as someone incapable to perform such great task, you belittle and degrade yourself but its not how God sees you. Man look at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart. You are more than what you think you are. You are greater than what you think you can and you are stronger than what you think you are.

2. What is Your name?
“Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” (Exodus 3:13)

Fear is slowly crippling you and sooner paralyses you, you doubt not just yourself but God. You doubt his power and sovereignty. Gradually your fear is now greater than how you look at God. He became lesser and your fear becomes greater.

3. What if they dont believe me?
“What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” (Exodus 4:1)

Trusting God means being obedient even though you dont fully understand, its trusting despite of unbelief and being confident that He sees a bigger picture than what you can only see.

4. Please send someone else
“Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” (Exodus 4:10)

“Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.” (Exodus 4:13)

You were defeated by fear. You didnt overcome and ask for a replacement to someone you think qualified and skillful enough. You began to think that its not for you. And sadly, you didnt give yourself a chance to overcome your weakness. But God is always faithful He will grant you a partner to fill in the weaknesses you think you have. And together fulfill the task God has given you.

When God called you, He will be with you. He will not just give you a command and leave you but will embark on a journey with you. God has already clear strategy and direction in mind, you just need to trust his leading and his plans. Obey because theres always blessing and provision in obedience. Be ready as you start a wonderful adveture with God.

It is Yahweh’s moment by moment leading that gets the work done. We are only representative of the power that dwells within us. In a sense, we are only along for the ride… should we accept the challenge.
