Put On the Full Armor of God

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. -Ephesians 6:13

Our everyday life is a battle. And our Christian walk is no different —  it is a fiery implacable battle. As believers, we are not only called as God’s children and servant but also His warriors–and a warrior’s job is to fight the enemy. Attacks and assaults are everywhere if we are not vigilant, we will easily fall down. This ongoing battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Why do we need to put on the full armor of God?

To protect you
No warrior will dare to go to a battle unprotected and unprepared. God has set out for you well-made weapons of the best materials to protect you from any evil schemes. But in the same way, the enemy has devised a strategic plan to win the battle. This is not like an afternoon athletic contest–this is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil. Without the full armor of God you will easily fall down and be wounded.

To let you know that your strength is not enough
A soldier no matter how strong and mighty will be proven weak without good strategy and a powerful weapon.  Thus far, it only proves that our strength alone is impotent. Our own strength is never enough to oppose Satan, but when we are strong in the Lord, even a little of His strength is sufficient to win any battle.

To create in you courage
God is your back up and His Word is your indispensable weapon. Having confidence of what your Master can do, relying on His mighty power can give you so much courage, and knowing He is fighting with you is an assurance that He is always there to protect you and He will never leave you nor forsake you.

To make you stand firm
You need to stand firm and let nothing move you so you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. It’s the best time to apply them.

To let you fight a good fight
God is strong, and he wants you strong. He wants you to fight a good fight of faith. You’re his your powerful warrior that He knows can kill thousands. The armor of God will make you stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. You’re not trained to just easily fall down and give in by just single attack

To make you finish strong
This is not an easy battle. You need the full armor of God throughout the battle. Take all the help you can get. It’s far more than you can handle on your own. You need to last in the battle so when everything is over, you’re still standing strong and you can shout your shout of victory.
